What is a 2-in-1 bill of lading and shipping label?
A 2-in-1 form prints the bill of lading and the shipping label on one sheet. You print once, hand the BOL portion to the driver, and peel or tear the label portion onto the pallet. It exists to stop the two from getting separated or printed inconsistently.
Why it matters
The paperwork and the label have to agree. When they are produced separately it is entirely possible to hand over a BOL for one shipment and stick a label from another onto the freight, and the freight goes where the label says.
The mistake that costs money
Assuming a 2-in-1 form satisfies a customer's labelling requirement. Retail and parcel-style labels have their own barcode and placement specifications, and a combined form does not automatically meet them.
